The Elbowoods Memorial Health Center is an American Indian Health Facility primarily serving the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation.
The Fort Berthold Indian Reservation located in west central North Dakota; is home for the federally recognized Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation, also known as the Three Affiliated Tribes.
The reservation runs along the banks of the Missouri River and consists of 988,000 acres which is the home base for approximately 15,000 enrolled members.

93-638 and AAAHC accredited Ambulatory Care Clinic with on-site services such as; Lab, Pharmacy, Radiology, Women's Health, Pediatric Care, Behavioral Health, Optometry, and Podiatry.
EMHC also has four field clinics each with a provider, nurse, pharmacy technician, and support staff.
Other associated clinics include Dental and the Awatii Wellness Center (Diabetes Program).
Along with the four field clinics EMHC also provides services to inmates occupying the Gerald Tex Fox Justice Center.
The Elbowoods Memorial Health Center serves the MHA Nation and other federally recognized Native Americans and descendants.
Duties:
1)Position serves primarily as the Medical Coder for the Elbowoods Memorial Health Center and 5 field locations.
2)Represents EMHC in a highly professional manner.
3)Establishes positive communications with all departments of EMHC to assure stable operations.
4)Demonstrates respect and understanding of confidentiality for patients, staff and others according to policy and HIPAA regulation.
5)Maintain required reporting as assigned.
6)Participates in EMHC staff meetings, assigned committees, community events, and other meetings as instructed or deemed necessary.
7)Actively strives to educate the community on the mission, vision and values of EMHC in a positive approach to assist in the growth of the organization and assist our community in its healthcare needs.
8)Adheres to the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Elbowoods Memorial Health Centers.
Qualifications:
o High School diploma, REQUIRED.
Knowledge of business and accounting processes usually obtained from an Associate in Business Administration, Accounting or Health Care Administration PREFERRED.
Must submit copy of degree or transcripts with application.
o Minimum of 1 to 3 years' experience in a medical coding setting using ICD-9-CM or equivalency, REQUIRED.
ICD-10-CM Certified, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification PREFERRED.
o Possession of a current, valid North Dakota State Driver's License, reliable transportation, and telephone, REQUIRED.
o Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
o Must be responsible, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality of information.
o Must submit and pass a Criminal Records Background Check.
o Must submit and pass a Alcohol/Drug Screen and random testing as per policy.
o Indian Preference will apply.
